About

The original forum, 2008 to 2016

DatBTrue was a vBulletin forum built around a single, prolific, pseudonymous author. From 2008 to 2016 that author wrote long essays on the growth hormone axis, secretagogues, insulin, IGF-1 and related metabolism. The essays were mechanism-first and citation-heavy: a typical post walked through the physiology, quoted the papers it relied on, and then argued with the reader’s assumptions. Members asked questions, and the answers often turned into the next essay.

Why it vanished

In mid-September 2016 the forum closed. The closing announcement cited the author’s serious illness. The site was not preserved, and that appears to have been deliberate: it had long blocked guests and search-engine indexing, so very little of it was ever captured by public web archives. The thread bodies, member discussions and file attachments did not survive.

How the archive was reconstructed

What survived were the articles themselves, because readers had copied them. Members of the r/Peptides community transcribed 42 of them into the subreddit’s wiki. In 2026 we recovered that transcription from an Internet Archive snapshot and published 39 of them here in full. Three entries are summarised and cited instead: two were commissioned by a manufacturer, and one reproduces another author’s book. The gaps are real: diagrams that lived as attachments are mostly gone, references to “posts above” point to threads that no longer exist, and transcription errors may have crept in. The archive policy explains how we handle them.

What this site is, and is not

This site is an independent forum for reading and discussing the peptide literature, plus a curated archive of those articles. The name describes where the archive came from.

It is not the original forum, and it is not an official republication. We are not affiliated with the author, with any estate, or with Synthetek, which commissioned six of the author’s pieces and holds a licence on them; two of the six are in the recovered set. We have no vendor relationships. We do not discuss sourcing, we do not give dosing advice, and nothing here is medical advice.

The identity question

The author wrote under a pseudonym throughout, and the forum never officially confirmed who was behind it. In March 2018 The New York Times published an investigation into the peptide trade that addressed the question, naming the man investigators believed was behind the alias. The forum never confirmed that identity, and we do not assert it here. The r/Peptides wiki hosts the surviving transcriptions. Readers who want to know more should read those sources directly and judge them on their own terms. We do not add to them, and we will not host speculation about private individuals on the forum.
